Snow in April?!?

Do you ever feel like complaining?

I do! But, as I read in my Bible reading yesterday morning, "This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it." ~Psalm 118:24

Do you ever struggle with things not going the way you want them to go?

I do! Recently, we have been learning about meekness- giving up our rights and expectations to God. Several opportunities have come up for me lately, when things don't seem to be going right, to give those things to the Lord. I want to trust in His plan- He sees the whole picture, and He wants to work in our lives and grow character in us. He knows what is best, so why don't we trust Him more fully?

A verse that we read at church on Sunday really stuck out to me: "Trust in Him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before Him: God is a refuge for us. Selah." ~Psalm 62:8. The Lord desires that we pour out our hearts before Him-- He wants us to tell Him everything. He is always ready to listen! What a wonderful God we serve!

We have been busy with various things lately-- we have been trying to focus on getting into a normal schedule with school and other things since we've been home.

Also, we are greatly anticipating the Christian Heritage Conference at the end of this month for several reasons (we will have to post about them after the conference :). We girls have been having a lot of fun practicing our chorale songs, and are really looking forward to that time!

I will close with another favorite verse In Psalm 112, "Praise ye the LORD. Blessed is the man that feareth the LORD, that delighteth greatly in His commandments. " May the Lord bless you all!

P.S. Someone asked about cornbread in a comment. Were you wondering if we had a recipe for that? :)

A New Recipe

Whole Wheat Muffins

1/2 cup butter, melted
2 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
3/4 cup sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup fruit (banana, apple, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, etc)
1 egg, beaten
1/2 cup buttermilk*

Preheat oven to 375 degrees and grease a muffin tin that will hold 12 (you may need more, I did). In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt. In another bowl, whisk together the melted butter, fruit, egg and buttermilk. Fold wet mixture into dry mixture and stir until just combined (You may need to add more liquid). Fill muffin cups; bake for about 25-30 minutes, or until muffins are puffed and turning golden brown on top.

*To make your own buttermilk, pour 1/2 cup of milk, and add 1/2 a tablespoon of lemon juice and let it sit for about 5 minutes.
